  • Alex Temblador shared a presentation based on her book, Writing An Identity Not Your Own, aimed at publishing professionals. She was thorough and well spoken, but also approachable and answered questions with honesty and ease. I learned so much from Alex's presentation about how to approach working with authors of different identities to my own, working with books involving other identities, and representing these identities respectfully. Alex also provided us with a snapshot of strategies we can put into action in the workplace. Anyone working with a creative work in any capacity would benefit from reading this book.

  • As the Founder and Executive Director of WritingWorkshops.com, I had the privilege of offering her course, "Writing an Identity Other Than Your Own," to our students, and based on feedback, her course was nothing short of transformative. Alex's expertise in creative writing, particularly in the realm of cultural identity, shines brightly in her teaching. Her course, a masterful blend of practical exercises and inspirational guidance, allowed our students to delve deep into the richness of their cultural background, enabling writers in her class to infuse their work with authenticity and depth. Through her well-crafted curriculum, Alex provided not just the tools but the confidence to explore and articulate the nuances of heritage in creative work. Her warm, engaging teaching style fosters a sense of community among students, encouraging open and meaningful discussions. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking to deepen their writing through a nuanced understanding of cultural storytelling.

  • “I took the Writing Magical Realism class with Alex Temblador. It was a great class, and so much fun! Alex is a very good instructor. Her writing exercises were stimulating and got the whole class talking. I’m working on a very realistic novel, and it was liberating to spend a few hours writing without the constraints of “is this realistic?” It also helped me to look at my writing in a fresh way. I definitely will be trying this again soon."
