Food that will make you fall in love, conversations with people long deceased, and heavenly assumptions: magical realism is both a literary and writing style that combines realism with fantastical elements which the reader is meant to take as “real.” In this seminar, we’ll discuss the history of magical realism, how to identify it in texts, and do some writing exercises that will inspire you to create your own magical realism piece.
