Author & Agent: a Free Zoom Conversation with Alex Temblador & Mary C. Moore

Award-winning author Alex Temblador and her literary agent, Mary C. Moore, will join WritingWorkshops.com for a publication-day discussion on Alex's debut in adult fiction, Half Outlaw. In addition to discussing the novel's themes like messy families and identity, they'll discuss the writing process of the book, the path to publication during a pandemic, and their author-agent relationship since Alex's first novel, Secrets of the Casa Rosada, was published in 2018. The discussion will conclude with an audience Q&A.

Half Outlaw was named a Most Anticipated Crime Book of 2022 by Crime Reads and part of LitHub's 35 Novels You Need to Read This Summer.

Alex Temblador is the award-winning author of Secrets of the Casa Rosada and Half Outlaw. After receiving her MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Central Oklahoma, Alex published her first novel in the YA genre in 2018 with Arte Publico Press. Secrets of the Casa Rosada received a Starred Kirkus review and won such awards as Kirkus Reviews' Best YA Books of 2018, MG/YA Discover Prize Winner of the Writers League of Texas Book Awards 2018, the 2019 NACCS Tejas Foco Young Adult Fiction Award, and the Texas Library Association's TAYSHA's list. Half Outlaw is Alex's first adult novel; it will be published by Blackstone Publishing in July 2022. You can find her creative work in magazines like PALABRITAS and anthologies like Living Beyond Borders: Growing Up Mexican in America and Speculative Fiction for Dreamers: A Latinx Anthology. In addition to teaching creative writing seminars and classes for the likes of WritingWorkshops.com and Writer's League of Texas, Alex is the founder behind the DFW author panel series, LitTalk. When she's not writing books, Alex works as an award-winning freelance writer with publications in National Geographic, Travel + Leisure, Conde Nast Traveler, Texas Monthly, The Daily Beast, among many others. 

Mary C. Moore is a literary agent with Kimberley Cameron & Associates based out of the Bay Area, California.
