Half Outlaw: My Second Book is Going to Be Published!

Less than two years after my award-winning novel, Secrets of the Casa Rosada was published, I’d like to announce some exciting news: my second book has been bought by a publisher!

Blackstone Publishing has acquired Half Outlaw, my first adult fiction novel. Expected to be published in 2022 in print and audio, Half Outlaw is a magical realism story with a gritty tone, a main character with a Mixed identity, and a cast of characters that are rough around the edges (to say the least).

I wrote the first words to Half Outlaw in winter 2014. After putting it aside for years, I completed the book in 2017 and am glad to see it finally find a home at Blackstone Publishing.

I’d like to thank my literary agent, Mary C. Moore of Kimberly Cameron & Associates for her hard work on making this deal happen, and Blackstone Publishing for seeing what I saw in my story.

I’m limited in the number of details I can share, but I can offer you a better glimpse into the story. Check out the summary below:

Half Outlaw

Raqi is a strong-ass woman. She’d have to be. Orphaned at four, she was fostered off to her white uncle, a racist with a drug addiction and a one-percenter motorcycle club member who had no desire to raise any kid, let alone a half-Mexican one and a girl at that. Her upbringing wasn’t exactly soft.

She left the club life behind and didn’t look back. A high-powered lawyer with a boyfriend and a beautiful house, now she does what she wants to do, and she doesn’t need anybody or anything. That is until Billy, the leader of her uncle’s motorcycle club, calls one night to tell her Uncle Dodge has died. They’re doing a Grief Ride and she’s expected to partake. If she does, she’ll get an address: that of her previously unknown Mexican grandfather.

So Raqi goes out on one last ride where she will come face-to-face with the childhood that haunts her, strangers that challenge her perspective, some family she didn’t know existed and some she never wanted. She will come to realize that being a strong-ass woman means so much more than being tough and closing herself off to others.

Motorcycles, magical realism, and a main character with a Mixed identity – Alex Temblador’s Half Outlaw is a gritty tale that highlights how identity, loyalty, and love are not clear cut when family is involved.
